I believe it would be a hard thing to "fess up" that your father wiped out your entire family, and probably would have snuffed you out too if you had been there. I believe their new clothes were intended for burial purposes, and I'm sure that Arthur must have realized this.

Good point Brian. Yours too Vickie. When Sheriff Taylor asked Arthur that afternoon if he had any idea why his father did that Arthur said, I don't know, he was always kind to us children. Note that Arthur did not say his father didn't kill them, just that he didn't know why.

I read where Arthur had an altercation with his father (if it really happened, of course), and if it did, I doubt it was the first time. I think Charlie's personality was different in public than at home with his family. So it is understandable that people viewed him as a "good, family" man.
There have been several murderer's and serial killers, that have been portrayed as "normal" and "good" people until the unthinkable happens.

If I had been Arthur I definitely would not have worn the suit that Charlie had bought either. It would have brought back too many memories of his family.

It is so good to see you again Tiffany. Thank you so much for posting one in the Lawson forum section!! I hope you are well. Like you, under the circumstances Arthur was thrown into I would not have worn that suit either. Not then, not ever. I probably would have tossed it into Charlie's coffin and let it be buried with him. Maria

I would have done the same thing Maria. i would not want anything to do with a suit my father bought me with the intentions of burying me in it after killing me. tim

Have to say I agree! I'd never touch that suit again (if I didn't get rid of it).
