I seem to remember a story about the bodies being taken to 3 different funeral homes, and something about one of the undertakers saying that Marie was showing. Maria can you please refresh my memory?? Which ones where they, why did they move them and what was the story?

The first funeral home they were taken to was P.T. Harrington Funeral Home in Walnut Cove. It was at that funeral home that one of the undertakers, Clemmie Smith told anyone who would listen that when he helped undress Marie Lawson she was definitely showing. Whether he said that or not I cannot vouch for as I never met the man but that is what I was told by one of his descendants. Harrington Funeral home did not have the room for seven bodies or the right equipment necessary to fully handle the preparation of the bodies for burial so the bodies were then taken to Yelton Funeral Home in Madison, N.C. Yelton did not have embalming equipment so they sent the bodies up the street to T.B. Knight Funeral Home which did have embalming equipment. After embalming the bodies T.B. Knight transferred the bodies back down the street to Yelton's because T.B. Knight did not have enough space to put that many bodies on display for viewing but Yelton did.
