How do you feel about physician assisted suicides.
I'm sure there are varying views on this, and it certainly doesn't mean one is right and the other isn't. Just a topic for discussion, and anyones views are important. We all feel differently about certain issues, and it is our God given right.
There are many ethical and medical gray areas surrounding the point (if one exists) when quality of life is so diminished it isn’t worth living: a threshold the public has yet to define. Is accelerating the inevitable really "suicide"?
It is interesting to note how often the right-to-die campaign has been dramatized in the cases of brain-damaged people: But what about people who are dying from a terminal disease? How do you feel about it. Do we have the right to die when there is no medical treatment available to help us any longer. Should we be made to suffer from a long terminal illness. I would never put my animals through the pain of suffering, why should we as humans have to endure it? I certainly couldn't imagine my children having to suffer from a terminal illness.
"The right to a good death is a basic human freedom. The Supreme Court's decision to uphold aid in dying allows us to view and act on death as a dignified moral and godly choice for those suffering with terminal illnesses." "John Shelby Spong"
I know Angel, this is a hard one to decide. When I think of possibly suffering, I have to think of Christ. Jesus suffered numerous hours of horrible and sustained torture on the cross of Calvary. Maybe its a cross, we all have to inevitably carry.
I am totally in support of Physician Assisted Death. If there is no way, due to accident or disease for a human being to ever again be a thinking, aware, and functional human being then I have no problem letting them go on to whatever the next step is...death, a different realm, etc. I do not want to be kept alive if I cannot think or function or be aware or have no hope of recovery. The emotional and financial strain is far to heavy a burden for the family to carry if their loved one has to be hooked up to machines to breathe for them and keep them alive. We were meant to be human beings, not human vegetables.
