Below is the post from one of Charlie Lawson's great grand-daughters who joined our forum (the old one) and for me was one of my favorite posts. She was/is the only direct descendent of Charlie and Fannie Lawson's to join our forum. The other Lawson family members who have joined are gerat nieces, great nephews, cousins, etc. For me the day she joined and posted was a wonderful day in the life of our forum. Maria

When I first saw this site, it bothered me immensely. I viewed it as an intrusion into our lives and couldnt grasp the fascination. I have since talked to Matt and I must say he is a calming soul, and speaks with such depth on the subject that it doesn;t bother me as much. I say that yes all of Arthur's kids were taken to California where we all still live within a fifty mile radius of each other. We lost our eldest aunt, Annie, in November, but the other three children of my grand-father Arthur Lawson are still here with their families. Maria, I have read your posts and you are as compassionate as Matt. So for the record the names of Arthur's children are: Nancy Ann, (Aunt Annie who died in November) Patricia Nevada, Victoria Maybell, and James Arthur. I am Maybell's daughter and there are seven other great grand-children still alive. We have lost 2 of them as well as both of Arthur Jr.'s kids. We have nine kids between us. We all grew up knowing the story. My Mimi (Nina) never let us forget where we came from. She knew what my grandpa had told her and written to her and she shared that with all of us. One of the hardest things she said she ever had to do was to leave her home, never to return, and she didn't. Now it wasn't for the reason everyone thinks and I'm sure people would dsagree but I know for a fact it was true, hence I won't defend it. When my gramps died the kids were 1, 4, 6, and 8 and Uncle Marion who took control of everything after the killings was in charge of all the money. He in short was a bully and as for giving Arthur any money that's a blantant lie. If he had, they would not have lost the farm. After Arthur died, Marion decided a mere woman couldn't raise the kids so in order to keep control over the money he told Nina he was going to seperate the kids and give one to each of the Lawsons. That's when she made the decison to pack up her babies and leave. No one was taking her kids. And that's what happened. They went to Greensboro for a bit, then to Florida, then finally to California where she stayed until her death. Here's a question: Who took over their land? Well marion of course. And as for not wanting to give any info about us to anyone, we all still believe that the only reason no one ever wanted us to come back there was they were afraid we would demand what was rightfully ours. Know that my Mimi missed her kin and her home every day of her life. She was one of the best people God ever put on this earth, and she would never mean-mouth anyone. When she told us the story and we asked about Marion, her response was always "he will have to answer to the Lord himself for his actions and that is how we all live or lives. I can only imagine what it must have been for Arthur to lose his entire family. I’m sure the great grandcdayghter May have been told why by Arthur his father killed his family. Maybe there were signs or internal family problems that he mentioned to his wife before he died in auto accident? Was his sister pregnant by her father? Many unanswered questions and sad end

As a child my mother and grandmother told me I was in some way related to the Lawson family. My great-great-grandmother was named Vetrus Lawson but I don’t know her husband’s name. I’m just trying to connect my family tree.

I’m from King NC. I grew up hearing about the story of the Lawson’s. I’d love to chat with a relative, off this thread. You can privately message me on Instagram if you see this please and thank you. @tiffanybrouwer
