I am interested in Fannie Lawson's family. Does anybody know the names of her parents and brothers and sisters? How many of them were there? Was she the oldest or youngest child? What happened to them after the murders? Did they live near her? Sissy

After Fannie's mother Onie died her father John took turns living with each of his children until he passed away. From what I can gather he was very much loved and taken care of by his children. I'm glad that his family was able to take care of him.

I am to Susan. I have always had a tender spot for Charlie's mother Nancy and Fannie's parents John and Onie. The violent deaths of seven of their grandchildren as well as Nancy's son and John and Onie's daughter had to have been a horrible heartache that never ended. My heart hurts for them everytime I think of them. Maria

Me too, Maria. I have a daughter and I can't imagine how terrible that would be to live with each day knowing that your son-in-law killed your daughter and your grand-children. I know they had to have thought about this every day. They had to have been very strong people.

Maria This may have been discussed elsewhere, but after reading smpyrtle's comment above, I wondered how the Lawsons and Manrings got along afterwards. I know that there were hard feelings between them (as to the carnival atmosphere that the house became, thanks to Marion), but I would think that there had to have also been some thoughts as to why Charlie's brothers didn't do more to get him some help prior to the murders, or if they'd heard rumors about Marie's abuse and no one did anything about it. I think that it's just normal to want to place blame for what happened, and while I'm sure that they blamed Charlie plenty, he wasn't there to accept it. I know that John Wilkes Booth's brothers and sister took a lot of criticism for their brother's actions. It completely changed their lives. I wonder if the remaining Lawsons felt any of that same anger from the community or extended family.

His family probably did get a lot of flack over it because I heard Arthur did. I remember being told that the father of Arthur's girlfriend at the time Charlie killed his family (her name was Annie Mae McGee) forbid Annie Mae from seeing and going out with Arthur anymore after that. Maria

I know there is little knowledge of Arthur, but I was wondering if anyone knows about Arthur's relationship with his Manring grandparents after the murders.
Welcome Tiffany!

No one seems to know about Arthur's relationship with his Manring grandparents. I saw it mentioned in earlier posts that Arthur spent time with his Aunt Ida who was Fannie's sister. Since the Manring's were living in Germanton he might not have spent much time with them due to transportation. Just a guess.

Hi Tiffany and welcome to the forum!!
I imagine that maybe this is why there wasn't much discussion on the topic of the murders for both family's. They were licking their wounds, and to discuss it with each other would have started a feud. Maybe that is why there is so much "hush" "hush" in releasing any information.
