I'm still clueless as to why Charlie Lawson had a brochure for baby furniture in his coat pocket when he killed himself. Was it something that companies that sold baby furniture mailed out to people that were pregnant or had bought something from there company before? How old was the brochure? How long had it been in Charlie's pocket. I'm wondering if Fannie had ordered Marylou's baby crib from that company and the brochure had been in Charlie's pocket ever since then. Or if Charlie or Fannie knew Marie was pregnant and was planning to order a baby crib for her baby when it was born.

So many different possibilities! I wonder about that brochure too. I figure he planned to kill everyone at least 2 to 3
weeks before he did it so that brochure is a weird thing to be carrying around.

A lot of times people will put things in coat pockets and forget about them and they stay in there a long long time. I know I'm bad about that. I did that some time ago with my check book. Nearly went crazy trying to find my checkbook. In frantic mood I grabbed my coat off the hook and put it on to go upstairs to my neighbors house to see if I'd dropped it there and that's when I found it in my coat. So that brochure may have been in Charlie's coat pocket for some weeks.

Yes, I've done that too. Since the baby was already four months old, that theory makes sense. And they couldn't have needed much for her after already having so many children.

I know what you mean Maria, I just found a pack of smokes in my pocket that is probably a year old....I wonder if I could smoke'em anyway?

Wasn't there a mention of a maternity circle letter in his pocket also? It seems rather strange to me that Charlie would have had that circle letter with him...it just doesn't seem like something a man would be interested in, much less have in his pocket.
Makes me wonder if Marie had been planning on adding her own little note to the letter before forwarding it on....

It was addressed to Fannie Lawson is the only thing I know about it. How long he'd had it in his pocket or why it was in his pocket I don't know. I don't even know if Marie knew about the circular at all. Did Fannie even see it I wonder or did Charlie confiscate it from the mailbox and never gave it to Fannie. So many questions still to be answered. I really think the answer to this questions depends on when that letter showed up in the Lawson's mailbox.

If it's similar to the few that I've seen over the years, one woman would write to another, the next would add to a letter, forward both notes on to another person, each person adding a note in the letter until it returned to the first person. We found several of these in my g-grandmothers possessions after her death...(yep, she kept EVERYTHING). They're really neat to see now, as all of my grandmother's were simply be notes of day to day activities of the writers, news of the family and some gossip thrown in.

I don't think that's what that circular letter was. It was sent from a store or company that made maternity items and baby furniture and from what I was told yesterday it was routinely sent to women in the community who had at some time purchased something from that store. It was more like an advertisement for the company. If a pregnant woman got one of those in the mail she would give it to other women she knew was pregnant and so on and so on. It was meant to be sent to one person who in turn would pass it on to someone else in the hopes that someone who needed maternity or baby items would order something. Fannie must have ordered something from that company at some time to have gotten her name on their mailing list.

Out of the several dozen newspaper articles I've read about the Lawson murders only one newspaper mentions a circular letter. I wonder if there even was such a thing in his pocket.
