Someone said that Raymond hid behind the stove while others have said part of his body was under the stove.
While reading an account written by Elmer Puckett of Rurah Hall and sold as a souvenir on the house tours in
1930, Mr. Pucket said it looked to him like Raymond had tried to crawl inside the stove. He also stated that
Raymond's head was crushed. Mr. Puckett claims to have entered the house with some other boys and went on
to describe the condition and placement of the bodies. He also claimed to have been among those at Charlie
Lawson's house Christmas morning for target practice. He said when he left the Lawson house everything was
all-right. There had been no trouble between them that day and everybody seemed to be having a good time.

So what did he say the placement of the bodies was?
Or is that scrapbook material?

According to him Raymond was in the kitchen "near" the stove. Fannie was in the doorway. Marylou was in her crib. He said Charlie's two girls were lying on the hearth side by side near the fire place. And two of the children were in the tobacco barn laying side by side. They had stones beneath their heads. He must have thought James was a girl. He said there were pillows under the heads of the two on the hearth. That would be Marie and James.

I just couldn't imagine walking in there and seeing all those dead bodies. Some with crushed heads..oh man.

Me either Angel. I would have recoiled from the sight and smell and would have had nightmares and cried a lot. Something that horrible is bound to overwhelm a person's emotional system. I know it would have mine.

Wait... the two girls were by the hearth? Then doesn't this place this view AFTER Carrie and Maybelle were brought to
the house? Oh, saw note about James being possibly mistaken. Got a little excited and didn't read on.

If Mr. Puckett remembered everything correctly then it was Marie and James who had a pillow under their heads. And of course Carrie and Maybell. Which leaves Fannie and Raymond with out a pillow. However, we all know how faulty memories can be.
