01/14/08 at 10:30 AM laurie1125 I read Fannie's bio that she was a good cook. Any known recipes of hers out there? laurie1125
01/14/08 at 10:56 AM Maria None that I know of Laurie. I have a recipe from one of her friends back then, Cassie Heath. It's her home made chicken and dumplings but nothing from Fannie. Someone whose mother lived not far from the Lawsons at that time said she remembered standing out on her front porch and seeing smoke coming from the Lawson's chimney and smelled the aroma of cookies from the Lawson house and it smelled wonderful. I bet all of those women back then were excellent cooks. Stella Lawson not only said Fannie Lawson was a great cook, she said the same exact thing about Ella Mae Johnson's mother Cora Johnson. I make a mouth watering pork chop casserole myself. If you don't believe me ask my son Matt. He'll tell you!! Maria
01/14/08 at 12:16 PM Angel71242 I've never heard of a pork chop casserole! That sounds interesting!
And I wonder if they were considered such good cooks because the things they made were so unhealthy (the worse something is for you, the better it tastes!) I bet a lot of stuff was fried and deep fried back then. Angel71242

That would have been really neat to have found some of Fannie's receipes! Though I bet they would of had some ingredients that I never heard of!
