• As you know Marie made a raisin cake on the day that she was murdered. I found this recipe on the internet.
Enjoy
• 1 cup raisins
• 2 cups water
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease one 10 x 10 inch baking pan.
2. In a large saucepan boil the raising with the water for 10 minutes. Add the butter or margarine and let cool.
3. In the same pan add the flour, soda, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts (optional), mix well and pour batter into a lightly greased 10x10 inch baking pan
4. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Serves 8 to 12.

Hi Laurie,
Just to keep you from being confused about Michael and me joking about the raisin cake let me say that the raisin cake has cropped up in this forum so many times that it is now an inside joke!!! For some reason that raisin cake has taken on a life of it's on not only in here but in all of Stokes County!!!

Instead of the cake, how about the wine
Raisin Wine
2 lb Raisins
1 lb Sugar
1 Lemon; sliced
2 gal Boiling water
Seed and chop raisins fine. Put in a large crock with sugar and lemon. Pour boiling water in. Stir daily for 6-8 days. Then strain and bottle and put in a cool place for 10 days and it will be ready.
