Since we know for certain that the guns that were used to kill the victims were not confiscated and held as evidence (it was in the hands of the family too soon after the murders), it makes me wonder if any of the evidence (the note, the clothing, pillows, etc.) was ever taken into custody. That may well be why the Sheriffs office has no knowledge of any evidence being in the possession of the Sheriff's office.

I don't think those things were ever taken into custody. They probably figured, well we know who did it so case closed. They didn't care anything about the why.

In that book it says a lot of the things were burned in a bonfire. I wonder if that really happened? If so that could be what happened to a lot of the things.

That's a good possibility. Since Charlie killed himself and was obviously the killer of his family, they probably felt they didn't need to save anything.

I really hate that. If only..........We would have the ultimate proof of so many aspects of this case. Even though there is no one else who could have committed those murders, tangible physical proof via of Charlie's admission in his own handwriting would be the ultimate prize. The good news however is that it leaves the door open that somewhere someday it's possible to find the person or persons who has that evidence. If it's still in existence that is. And we don't know for sure that it isn't.

Those notes might possibly have been thrown into that bonfire along with the blood stained pillows, the guns and what else was thrown into the fire, does anyone in here know? Somehow though I don't think those notes were thrown away or thrown into the fire. I think they're lying in the bottom of that chest that once belonged to Charlie Lawson and someone somewhere has that chest. I've heard that Charlie's bible and the funeral pamphlets are also in that that chest along with photos, etc

To answer your question in an earlier post Sissy about whether there really was a bonfire I think yes. The guns were said to be thrown into the fire and the shotgun we've seen has burn scars on it. What I'm wondering is what all was burned. Is there a list of things?

I also think there was a fire. Afire is a good way to get rid of blood stained pillows and bedding. If you just buried them, you would still know they were there every time you saw that spot in the ground. But fire is permanent. I would have burned them. And yes, if there was a list somewhere of what was burned in the fire, that would be excellent. But i don't think anyone would have written that down.
