Hey everybody! Ran into Matt the other night at a Winston store. Introduced him to my adopted sis, Amy. He was gracious and spoke with us briefly.
Matt, you may not think of yourself as a celebrity, but, being a "movie man" makes you one. it's always nice when people of note are so kind to their fans.
I have begun to be recognized in public myself, some, either from my pic in the book, or from that TV show. I have to admit that still gives me a thrill. The novelty of it hasn't worn off with me yet, so I wasn't really thinking of the intrusion into your shopping we were making, it dawned on me when Sis said, "I wanted to ask him for an autograph!" I was a little amused by her seeming to be a little "starstruck." Anyway, I wanted to apologize for just popping up on you like that! But it made both my day and Sis's. Thanks!

I know how that feels Michael. I'll never forget one time when I was having lunch at West End Cafe and my waitress looked at me and said "I know who you are, you're a celebrity, I saw you in that documentary called a Christmas Family Tragedy. It truly was what I call "a thrilling moment"!!!

You know what, I haven't thought about that. But I guess I better sign it Maria. Using a famous name like that name might get me stoned or sued!!!!

I'm paraphrasing here, but you get the idea-
my favorite purple midget (and one of the most gifted performers ever to set foot on a stage) once got very uncomfortable and said back in like 85 or 86, when asked about his massive rabid fan base, "You call em fans; I call em friends."
Thanks, Prince; couldn't have put it better if I'd tried.
Oh, and the pleasure was all mine; if my hastily scribbled name on a piece of paper means something to somebody, then I'm happy to do my part (unless I'm in some big hurry, and even Then, i still Will with a smile because I worked hard to build an audience and I'm just grateful to be where I am), so next time, if someone says that to you again, you can confidently respond "Go right on ahead, I'm pretty sure he won't mind."
