Here is a link I found to the John Dillinger Museum. It is a great site!!! Lots of really cool photos including him as an infant, the actual jail cell he occupied, his body in the morgue with toe tags attached, etc. Well worth the read. And oh yeah...there's a photo of Warren Oates too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! www.johndillingerhistoricalmuseum.4t.com/index.htmlMaria

Great link Maria! I spent over an hour reading, and looking at the photos. I wonder if the tombstone is that of John Dillinger or his father, who's name is also John Dillinger. The dates are 1864-1943. John Dillinger was born in 1903. I saw where many people had chipped away at the tombstone for ,souvenirs and wondered why people hadn't done that to the Lawson's tombstone (or have they?)

No, no one has chipped away at the Lawson tombstone. Probably out of respect for Fannie and the children. Tom Dooley's was chipped away at bad. Stonehenge in England is no longer accessible to the public due to people chipping away at those stones.

They can only see it at a distance. It's chained off. You can make a private appointment with a tour guide to take you up to it but it costs something like 50 pounds and the tour guide stays right there with you to see that you don't chips ahoy!!!
