Guest Avato I agree with you. Arthur must have relived that day over again and again. He must of had sleepless nights. Does anyone know if Nina lived in woodland california. There is a large family of Lawson's.I had my grandmother and 2 of my sons murdered 5 years apart so I can relate to what Arthur went through and he wouldn't have wanted to talk about it unless he could trust that person not to bring it up unless he wanted to. I pray for those who still have the pain of living with what happened

Hi, the only reason he, Arthur, was spared is because Charles wasn't stupid he knew he would have been stopped by his son. You can see in the picture he's bigger (and younger) than his father, he had to be removed.

My Mother, Sudie Reid Bibey is 94, and was a child when this horrible incident took place. She has more accurate facts than I have ever read in books, or online.

I have recently been watching about, reading about and thinking about this case. There is an unanswered question that just keeps niggling at me. I just keep coming back to it. The Question: Why did Carles Lawson spare his oldest child? Because it certainly appears to have been a premeditated choice on the part of Charles Lawson. I understand all the rumors about Charles Lawson having an incestuous relationship with his daughter, Marie and that a pregnancy had ensued. Speaking as a lifelong citizen of North Carolina, I can tell you that the role of conservative (Old Testament) Christianity on families of this time period can not be emphasized enough. I am talking about an "eye for an eye" kind of thing. So I will pose another question and hypothesis: What if, it was Arthur that actually impregnated his sister Marie? What if, Charlie sent him away that day and killed the rest of the family and himself, due to deep shame. His honor and that of his family may have been on the line. What if killing the whole family and leaving Arthur behind wasnt some kind of mercy? What if... it was a punishment? A reminder that Charlie had taken the whole family to Heaven and left Arthur behind alone, to live out his life in shame?
The question of why Charles spared Arthur is the very lynchpin to understanding this crime scene. That is my opinion, anyway.
