I have always heard wives be submissive to thy husbands but..I do believe we get religion and interpretations of this phrase mixed up terribly when we believe it to mean "let us allow our spouse to violate our self respect and human worth. Somehow if this is what "God" wanted us to believe i would leave any church because this would not be the God I believe in.

I hope this Isn't sacrilegious, if so I apologize sincerely right now. BUT. the Bible was written by men!!!!!!! Or predominately so anyway. And though I believe it was written under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, our individual interpretations of the Scriptures are not!!!!!! I think I may have opened a can of worms here by guoting a verse of scripture here. Religion is not a topic that comes easily for me. especially in a public forum.

Maria,
Religion is one of my fav subjects. And I love to debate the issue, I recently completed a college course called religions of the world, there are so many and Christianity is a new one comparatively speaking, i agree that the Bible was written by MEN and their views on WOMEN at the time the Bible was written is defiantly reflected in the Scripture. There where many books just completely left out including the Mary Magdalen book which has recently been recognized by the Catholic church. The actual history of the Bible is that it was commissioned by the Roman ruler Constine, who was a pagan until he at last converted on his death bed. No women where involved in the writing, and it seems to me that there are many women in general got a bad wrap. I do believe in God and Jesus but I think most people read what they want to in the text of the Bible it is all left to interruption.
