When i first saw this site, it bothered me immensely. I viewed it as a intrusion into our life, and couldn't grasp the fascination. I have since talked to Matt and I must say hes a calming soul, and speaks with such depth on the subject that it doesn't bother me as much. I will say that yes all of Arthur's kids were taken to Calif, where we all still live with in a 50 mile radius of each other. We lost my eldest aunt Annie in Nov, but the other three are still here with their family's. Maria i have read your post and you are as passionate as Matt. So for the record the names are Nancy Ann, Patricia Nevada, Victoria Mae bell, James Arthur...! am Mae's daughter and there are 7 other great grand children still alive we have lost 2 of them as well both Arthur's kids. And we all have 9 kids between us. Now as for why i haven't posted, i don't want to feel that i have to defend myself when i state what we have always been told by mouth or note. We all grew up knowing the story my Mimi (Nina) never let us forget where we come from. She knew what my grandpa had told her and written to her and she shared that with all of us. One of the hardest things she said she ever had to do was to leave her home never to return and she didn't, now it wasn't for the reason everyone thinks and I'm sure people would disagree, but I know for fact it was true "hence where i wont defend it" when my gr amps died the kids were 1,4, 6,8 and Marion who took control after the killings was in charge of all the money he in short was a bully and as for giving Arthur any money that's a blatant tie. If he had they would not have lost the farm. Now after Arthur died, Marion decided a mere woman couldn't raise the kids so in order to keep control over the money he told Nina that he was going to separate her kids and give one to each Lawson family, that's when she made the decision to pack up her babies and leave no one was taking her kids. And that's what happened, the went to Greensboro, for a bit then went to Florida, then finally to California. Where she stayed until her death. Here's a question, who took over all their land well Marion of course and as for not wanting to give any info about us to anyone, we all still believe that the only reason no one ever wanted us to come back there was they were afraid we would demand what was rightfully ours. Know that my Mimi missed her kin and her home everyday of her life, but she was one of the best people god has ever put on this earth, and would never mean mouth anyone......when she told us the story and we asked about Marion, her response was always he will have to answer the lord himself for his actions and that is how we all live our lives.

thank you so much for posting Capshsb as well as for the compliment. When I stated in one of my posts this morning that I can't understand why noone has come forth to clear Charlie's name if they had proof of his innocence is because I know if it were me I WOULD. But I'm not you so I don't blame you for keeping what you know to yourself. You are a direct descendent and you have the right to handle this as you see fit. It must hurt very much to see total strangers discussing the guilt or innoncence of your great grandfather but please know that we mean no harm.

Good Morning all..what a wonderful way to start the day reading caps heartfelt letter to us all. I for one am pleased after spending time in our forum you have found the true © heart of those who come here to converse. You have found what we already know about Matt, Eric and Maria in that they have a genuine passion for your family history. Your family in California are probably the only ones who can answer many questions and fill in missing pieces. You are fortunate in many ways you have so much help with your own genealogy. So many of us search and search and never find missing links or figure out the puzzles.

Capshsb,
We are all just curios about what happened. My condolences on the loss of your aunt. I know it was hard on everyone. Just know that when and if you ever do want to discuss this any further we are here to listen.

Thank you for yet another piece of the puzzle, Capshsb. You won't find any disagreements here about Maria and Matt. They are fair and have a wealth of knowledge about your family history. Separating fact from fiction these almost 80 years later is a tall task, but your latest post shines some new light on what was going on within the family at the time of your Grandfather's death.
Thank you for your input.

in response to capshsh the great grand-daughter. I read your message and had deep sympathy with what Arthur went thru. I am a descendant of the Manring side. My grandfather was a brother to Fannie. I am sorry for what your family has been put thru. I just thought you had moved to California to be away from the past. Best wishes.
