02/27/07 at 01:59 PM Maria I know it's been said a number of times that Arthur Lawson went to the store that morning to buy shotgun shells. This has been the standard destination given for quite some time. But I remember reading in one of the newspaper accounts and have heard from several other people that he was actually on his way that day to visit his Aunt and Uncle Henry and Ida Manring Ashby. Carrie and Maybell were also said to have been going to visit that same Aunt and Uncle as they made their way towards the barn dressed in their coats and hats. So where did Arthur go that day? To the store? Or to visit his Aunt and Uncle? Maria
02/27/07 at 02:26 PM sissy I had often wondered about that too. I know that most people believe that Arthur was going to the store that day. But in the article that I found in the local paper it stated that he was at his uncles house when the murders happened. Who were Sanders Lawson's parents wasn't he a cousin, and wasn't that who Arthur was supposed to be with? sissy
02/27/07 at 02:30 PM Maria Sanders Lawson was Marion Lawson's son by his first wife Jettie Ashby Lawson. Marion was Charlie Lawson's brother so yeah that would make Arthur and Sanders cousins. Maria

After many months of intensive research I believe that Arthur spent the night before the murders at his Uncle Henry and Aunt Ida's home which put him there early on the day of the killings. He then went back to his own home then later that day around noon he left to go to the store. That puts Arthur at both places that day rather than either the store or his Aunt and Uncle's home".
