Its been said from the author of the books that the Lawson family made threats to her. That is a total blank face lie. No one in our family would ever do such a thing as that. Who does she think we are? Some back woods people. Maybe even murderers. I don't think so..she said this on star news in her interview. The Lawson's are good people to all, even to her, and I don't know why.

I'm not as closely related as you are, but I don't believe that anybody threatened her either. It is all just a bunch of stuff she made up to make people feel sorry for her and buy that book.

Hi Doug,
We met and interviewed a lot of people in Stokes County and no one ever said anything about anyone threatening her. The people we talked with were some of the nicest people I have ever met. Not one of them came across to me as being the kind of person who would stoop to that level no matter how upset they may have gotten.

Maybe she and I could go and sit by Charlie's grave all night and then see who FEELS uncomfortable. It wouldn't be us Lawsons, IT WOULD BE THE PEOPLE WITH THE BLOOD MONEY.

Hi Bobby. I heard from someone else in the family who said he told them the same thing...to get off his property and never come back. At least 2 other people, not in the family, said they told them that too. But as we know, tel someone to get off your property is not the same thing as making a threat.

Were any of you asked to leave their property during the making of the documentary?

No Holly, I'm pleased to say we weren't ever ordered off any one's property. But maybe that is because we never just showed up un-announced at anyone's home asking them questions, we always called the person first, explained who we were, what our purpose was, developed a pleasant and friendly relationship with them, and then asked if they would be willing to be interviewed by us. When they said yes we then secured a day and time to meet with them. I might add also that even after our interviews with these people were over and done with, we did not just say "thank you, goodbye" and exit their lives never to return. We have kept up with them through phone calls and visits to this day. we were never out to "just get a story ."we really cared about these individuals and it showed. And they spread the word to others that we were really nice people who cared about them and were not out to exploit them, which in turn paved the way for our acceptance by other people when we called them. That is what I expected you to say. You al! did a great job and I am pleased to hear that is was handled in a professional manner.

I'm not surprised to hear that y'all did not get run off or get any threats. Everyone that you interviewed look like they were talking to old friends when they were talking to you. Everything was so well done. Even now when you do the showings people look like they are happy to meet you.

Why would the author feel threaten if she really wasn't going to tell it like the people told her in her interviews? Mana, you and Matt and Eric seem to be down to earth people and did good with the people you interviewed and this made a difference probably to them for they felt more comfortable with y'all.

Hi Linda,
I really don't have a clue as to why she said she had been threatened. Maybe when some people got angry at her for mis-quoting them she perceived their anger as being threatening. I'm just guessing here, okay. Because frankly I did not feel any of the people we met and interviewed were that way. Displeased perhaps, maybe even angry, but threatening? NO. Absolutely not.
