It has come to my attention that the Lawson Property is up for sale! Wonder why they have decided to sell? Tired of people trying to get on their property? Tired of people driving by slowly trying to get a glimpse of where the cabin once stood? Or maybe just personal reasons? Who knows. Then there's the question of the next owners. Wonder how they are going to like having a "famous" property? Will they leave it just like it is? Questions, questions...........

From what little I know, it does sound as if they don't like the attention the place gets. I'd guess they figured once the cabin was gone there would be no further interest in it, I'd also guess they were wrong. Of course maybe it's just economic reasons. I'd buy it if I could. Of course it would be much more interesting if the Lawson's cabin still stood there.

The family sold to be nearer to their grandchildren. And the most recent family who bought it would like it if they would be left alone

I imagine they would. I wouldn't like people always trying to get on my property either!
Thanks for the info about the previous owners!

Yeah, I attend church with the previous owners. They originally tore down the house because they didn't want investigators getting hurt and then suing them. And the new owners moved here from out off state and bought the property unaware of the history behind it. They received a rather rude awakening as several less considerate seekers began intruding on their property at all hours of the night and invading their privacy. That's when the fences and signs came up.

Well that was a good reason for tearing down the cabin, though I sure wish I could have seen it first!!! But that does make sense. People will sue for all kinds of things nowadays.
From what I understand, what you refer to as the "new owners" are the ones who have placed the property up for sale recently. So there were the original owners (who tore down the cabin), then the new owners (who put up the no trespassing signs), now the property is for sale again (by the "new owners"). That's what I was wondering about in my first post, why these "new owners" have placed it up for sale - I'm wondering if they have gotten tired of people driving by staring all the time and tired of the stupid people who actually try to trespass onto their property. I know that would drive me crazy and would be a little scary!

I haven't seen it up for sale here recently. the ones who put the no trespassing signs up are still the owners. my sister is friends with the daughter and I haven't heard anything about them selling.

Ok, turns out you are right! My friend said she saw a for sale sign maybe a year ago out there. I've never seen one. Could have just been a miscommunication.
Thanks for setting it straight!
