I'm curious about any wreaths or baskets of flowers at the funeral for the Lawson family. In one of the newspaper articles showing the caskets lined up in the cemetery I saw where someone was holding a funeral basket of flowers in their hand. The person holding it is not visible and only half the bosket is showing but it is definitely a funeral basket of flowers. I wonder could it have been Marion Lawson holding the basket as I don't see him in the photo where all those men are gathered around the caskets. Unless of course I just don't recognize him if he is showing in the photo. In the photo I have that was given me by the owner of Madison Dry Goods Store where it shows the 7 hearses lined up ready to head to Germanton and Browder cemetery for the funeral, the back doors of the hearses are open and in one of the hearses I can just make out a metal rack with a wreath of flowers on it that is attached inside the hearse right above the casket. I have see no other displays of flowers for the funeral that day. I wonder if there were any at Yelton Funeral Chapel where the bodies were on display for viewing. Strange how there are no photos of Yelton Funeral Chapel and the viewing. I would think someone, even if only the media would have taken some photos of it.

Yes, lack of photos is certainly frustrating!! And there was a big lack of photos with this case. I bet with all the people who attended this funeral there were probably lots and lots of flowers. Wasn't there at least 1,000 people at the funeral?

You are so right Angel about the lack of photos. They could answer so many question for us if only we could find them. I can't believe that the newspapers didn't take more photos. The kitchen, inside the tobacco barn, the flowers at the funeral, the alleged Christmas toys, the little blue hat and Christmas card lying there, a photo of the people lined up viewing the bodies in the caskets at the cemetery, the note Charlie wrote, the raisin cake on the kitchen table, the people touring the house, etc. etc. What those photos could tell us...WOW.

You know the saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words." That definitely would apply here. I'm really grateful for the many many photos I have been given, but there are just some photos I'd give my right arm for that we don't have. I guess that saying "we always want what we can't have" applies to me!!!!
