After years and years of hearing my Granny sing to me the Charlie Lawson song I am now finally able to understand the meaning behind every word she sang. I want to thank Maria Hodges for helping make this dream come true. She is the sweetest lady and after talking about the dvd and how I have so many memories of my Granny but the one that sticks out the most is of this story, Maria invited me over for a private viewing, I can't even begin to describe what I am feeling after seeing this. If there is anything you have ever wanted to know about this story or any questions about how or why, you'll find the answers after seeing it. I have always been curious about finding out more. All I know is that now the song alone doesn't do the story justice, the dvd, however, does. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet and wants to know more you must see this. I am extremely grateful to Maria for allowing me to come view and purchase this and for helping to bring to life one of the many memories I have of my Granny, As for her son Matt, I have not had the opportunity to meet him but seeing what he has done with this film shows how talented and gifted he is. God bless the both of you.

Hi Momof!!! Jt was a pleasure to meet you in person and provide you with the opportunity to see our film as you have so much wanted to do for so long, More importantly, you were thrilled with it and appreciated the results of the many many hours and months of hard work that so many people put into this for an entire year to bnng this documentary to fruition. None but those of us who worked so tirelessly can possibly know what went on behind the scenes. Only a fraction of what we learned and experienced could be put into the 75 minutes that is permissible for a documentary. I wish we could have shared more with you our viewers and patrons but alas time did/does not permit us to do so. To look into the eyes of the people who were alive during that time and knew intimately the Lawson family and see the look of fear and sorrow as they once again relived that terrible day brought home to me a measure of what they felt that day and the impact it had on them and still has on them 77 years later left me trembling in awe and humbled me like 1 have never been humbled in my entire life. To see the fear in their eyes, to hold the trembling hand of an elderly gentleman as he momentarily became the 14 year old boy he had been that long ago day, and watch helplessly as a tear rolled down the face of a 95 year old lady as she recalled her friend Marie Lawson broke my heart in two. We were able to give the Manring side of the family (Fannie's relatives) a chance to express their feelings and give voice to their side of the story, (something no one else had ever given them before), warmed our hearts as they expressed their gratitude for the "gift" as they called it, that we gave to them, I could go on and on but it would be over-load so I'll just say for now...thank you for your interest and your gracious compliments!!!
