Good Morning Sissy and welcome to our message forum. I did the genealogy of Charlie Lawson's family this summer and traced his ancestry back to 1035 in England. If you sent me your grandparents names I will be more than happy to check my files and see if and how they are related.

Maria would you be willing to share your findings with me? I would be so very grateful. I am interested in finding out what ties and maybe what locations the Lawsons had in Patrick County Va. I know Charlie's Mom and Dad were married in Patrick and if I am not mistaken Charlie and Fannie were married there as well. Thanks for you help you can email me at info@hillbillyghosthunters.com by the way I hope my plugging the DVD on my site has helped you all. I point everyone to your site that I possibly can.

Thank you so much HB for directing people to our website via of your website. We really appreciate that. According to my genealogy records I do not see any of the Lawsons in Patrick County, Virginia. I have them in Lancaster County, Virginia and Bedford County, Virginia. The first of Charlie Lawsons ancestors to arrive in America from Yorkshire, England was Rowland Lawson born: 1617. He married Letitia Joanne (Wales) in 1640 in Lancaster County, Virginia. Their son John Lawson was the first of the Lawsons to be born in America. He was born in 164S in Lancaster County and died there in 1703. The John Lawson who was the first one born in America..Lancaster County, Va. married Mary Kilby. John and Mary's son, also named John was also born in Lancaster County, Va. He married Elizabeth maiden name unknown, and they had a son David. David was born in Bedford County Va. From there the Lawsons via of David and Anne Harvey's son John moved out of Virginia and into Stokes County, N.C. That puts Charlie's ancestors in Stokes county in 1733 where they remain to this day. WHEW...Hope this is helpful.

First of all I'd like to say it was nice talking to Maria. And thank you for all the help you gave me. You found out more for me in a few hours than I had been able to find in two years. I am still sorting out all the info that you gave me but it appears that I am a direct descendant of charlie lawson's family. That is amazing to find out. When i find out more details I'll post it if anyone is interested. Thanks again Maria I would have never been able to find it without you.

Hi, all, I am a family member of the Lawson's. My grandpa's mother was Charlie's sister. I know that growing up & I'm 47 now. He spoke highly of Charlie. He said he was a hard working man, God fearing man & a man that loved his family. My concern is how can they say that his daughter was pregnant by her father? What evidence is there to support this? Was there any test? I know that back then, it was more complicated than now, but I just feel that our family name has been dragged thru the mud. I read the book & was very confused as to how all of this got started. If anyone knows facts, not just opinions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Dear Savannap
you have a beautiful name. I like it alot. I cannot imagine what you and your family have endured as a result of all that has been said about your family member Charlie Lawson. As far as facts about Marie being pregnant go let me say up front that proof of her pregnancy and by whom she was pregnant if indeed she was pregnant have never existed. For that I apologize for statements made that were presented as if they were truly facts. What has been presented are in reality assumptions from statements heard and put in writing that Marie was pregnant by her father. I know of at least 3 accounts (2 verbal and 1 written) that surfaced as early as the day of the funeral. December 27, 1929. But they were heresay, not actual proof as in her showing a pregnancy far enough along to be seen as definitely pregnant. Nor of course was DNA ever performed to prove or disprove that nor will or can such tests ever be performed due to the amount of time that has elapsed. I admit that alot of people believe what they hear even before proof has been established. Not just in this case but other cases as well. Beyond this I do not know what to say other than how sorry I am for the pain you have suffered as a result of it. If I can offer any answers to any questions you have I will certainly do my best to help.

Hi Savannah,
So happy you have found our message board (how did you find us?)
I can understand how you might feel your family's name had been dragged through the mud over these many years. I believe this is a great opportunity for family to tell the things remembered about your family that will help draw more attention to the real people behind the story. If your grandpa can remember things passed down that would be great for him to share here.
We welcome any comments and know that many of us have family stories... so in that way you are never alone.

You know my first reaction was there had to be some truth to it at least the part of hearing it told if you know what I mean. Stella was the one who mentioned what her Aunt had intrusted in her all those years before. As far as Stella probably knew her Aunts words were the truth....that must have been a huge burden for her to bare all those years. I think she really believed it because why in the world would she say something INTENTIONALLY if it was not TRUTH ... that would cause her family shame? As Maria stated THERE IS NOT HARD proof just hear say.
